What is Standard Parfum?
A fragrance house making luxury perfume candles, hand-poured in Ohio, in numbered releases. Each number is one finished perfume composition — No. 01 through No. 22 — organized by scent family, plus Main Street America, our seasonal special-release world. What is a perfume candle?
A candle designed with the discipline of fine fragrance: the perfume composition is selected first — structured in top, heart, and base notes — and the wax and wick are then chosen to express that fragrance as faithfully as possible. How is a perfume candle different from a regular scented candle?
The order of decisions. Most scented candles start with the wax and add fragrance to it. A perfume candle starts with the fragrance composition — structured in top, heart, and base notes — and the wax and wick are then matched to express it. The result unfolds in a room the way a perfume unfolds on skin.
Are Standard Parfum candles made with perfume?
They are built like perfume. Each candle uses premium fragrance oils composed in the structure of fine fragrance — top, heart, and base notes — rather than liquid alcohol-based perfume, which is not safe to burn. The composition comes first; the candle exists to express it.
Why do the candles show top, heart, and base notes?
Because each composition is structured like a perfume, and the registers tell you how it will unfold: top notes are what a room notices first, heart notes emerge as the melt pool establishes, and base notes are the warmth that stays. The full explanation is on our What Is a Perfume Candle page.
How are the wax and wick selected?
They are matched to the composition, not the other way around. The wax is a soy-beeswax blend chosen for how it carries and releases fragrance; the wick is sized so the melt pool reaches the vessel edge without burning hot — the conditions each composition was designed for.
Are the candles designed for strong scent throw?
Each candle is developed for expressive, balanced fragrance performance. Actual room presence can vary with room size, airflow, burn time, and fragrance composition — which is why every product page states its strength on the house five-step scale.
Why are the prices lower than traditional luxury candle brands?
Because the investment goes into the formula, not the markup. We spend on fragrance, materials, testing, and small-batch production in Ohio, and we sell directly instead of through prestige retail. The candle is made to luxury standards; the price simply is not.
Why are the candles numbered?
The number is a record, not a batch code. When a composition is finished it receives its number and never changes. New numbers are released over time; start anywhere, though No. 01 — House Vanilla is the traditional first candle.
What are the candles made of?
Soy-beeswax blend with premium fragrance oils, poured into weighted glass vessels. Numbered releases are 14 oz; Main Street America candles are 8 oz. Full details are on each product page.
Where are the candles made?
In Ohio, USA. Every Standard Parfum candle is hand-poured in Ohio in small batches, carefully cured, individually inspected, and prepared by hand before shipment.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — The Standard Parfum Promise: If your candle arrives damaged or defective, we will replace it at no additional cost. If you experience a genuine manufacturing defect during normal use, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we will make it right. See the Warranty page for full terms.
How much is shipping?
Standard shipping is $6.95 and priority is $11.95 within the US. Orders over $60 ship free. Gift cards are delivered by email at no charge.
A candle I want says Coming Soon — what do I do?
Leave your email in the Notify Me field on its page. You will get one email the moment it becomes available, and nothing else.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes — digital gift cards in $25, $50, and $100, delivered by email as a code. They never expire and any unused balance stays on the code. See the Gift Cards page.
What is Main Street America?
A special-release world inside the house: one street, five stops, released by season, anchored year-round by The Heritage — American Apple Pie.
